Just today I was talking with another business person who doesn't "get it" - the Twitter thing. My attempt at a simple explanation for a complex environment like Twitter was that it is one (among many) tools available in the SM universe... "its like hammer; one handled tool used for two very different jobs. One end for pushing and inserting and the other for extracting. Its not wrong to use the hammer either way but you better know which end your swinging when you do else you might do more damage than good.

As far as evaluating the tool, when you use it purposefully ...you'll know if it works for the job. There's certainly a reason to have many different kinds and sizes of hammers and it takes using them a bit to tell which one is right for the task at hand.
